Acuerdo con el profesor Juan Carlos Tedesco sobre la importancia que tiene la conección de inclusión social con el de inclusión digital y poder favorecer a los sectores más desprotegidos y que sea el Estado el que tome el rol de lograr la alfabetización digital .

Impressionism

 

Materia/área o disciplina: Inglés
– Año/curso en el que se trabajará con la actividad: Cuarto año
– Objetivos de la actividad:                                                                                                   * *Favorecer la interacción de los estudiantes con el arte.
* Romper con las representaciones que desvinculan a los estudiantes de los museos.
* Difundir los museos y sus obras.
* Integrar en la medida de lo posible a los museos y sus obras en los contenidos disciplinares de las materias del secundario.
* Vincular el conocimiento curricular con las TIC.
* Favorecer el uso de las netbooks en el aula.

• In this lesson we will have a look at the paintings of impressionist painters, specially Vincent v. Gogh, but before that here is an easy definition of what Impressionism is:

Impressionism began in Paris in the mid-1800s as a movement against  traditional painting techniques. Most artists of that time period painted from models inside studios, with everything perfectly arranged and lighted for the best effect.

But the Impressionists (including Claude Monet, Mary Cassatt,  Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Camille Pissarro) looked at art a little differently—they wanted to make art as truly realistic as possible, with brighter colors and more natural settings.

• We are going to surf the Art Gallery in the United Kingdom now, let’s click on its webpage: www.nationalgallery.org.uk . Once there write “Impressionist paintings” to see some examples of impressionism.                                                                
• After that,  go to “The Paintings” and click on “30-must-see” and  choose the painting “Sunflowers” by Vincent v. Gogh,  click on the author’s biography, read it and answer the questions on activity 1.

Note: All the activities except N° 4  must be done in class and sent to your teacher by email (marisa_ci@hotmail.com)

Activity 1  

a. What painting school does Vincent v. Gogh  belong to?

b. When and where was he  born and when and where did he die?

c. Did he have an easy life?

d. What’s one of the most important characteristics of his paintings?

• Return to the previous page and click on  “ Sunflowers: Symbols of happiness”, read the text and do activity N° 2

Activity 2  True or false?

a. Gaugin and Gogh were enemies.  (      )

b. The painting Sunflowers was the result of a period of happiness and optimism.  (   )

c. The painting Sunflowers is one of Gogh’s most famous paintings.  (     )

d. The reproductions of this painting can only be found in museums and art galleries. (    )

e. Gaugin and Gogh’s relationship had a happy ending.  (     )

• When activity  n°2  is finished, read the  text “ Gauguin: friend or foe?” and write two lines expressing your omipion about Gogh’s and Gaugin’s relationship.

Activity N° 3   Short comment on Gogh ‘s and  Gaugin’s relationship.

• Homework  – Activity N° 4.

Visit the webpage www.googleartproject.com/museums/vangogh and surf Gogh’s paintings and be ready to show the painting on your netbook and speak for two minutes our next class about which of his pictures you liked best and why.  Focus on the emotions the picture produced on you!
